What’s the #1 reason to study the clarinet, flute, and saxophone at the Academy?‍

Our woodwind instructors are warm and friendly, and get to know each student and parent on a personal level. We work with you to craft a lesson plan that fits your individual needs and the student’s favorite type of music. Whether you’re playing in local bands, a seven year old taking their first lesson, or a fifty year old returning to the flute after many years, we’ll set goals to achieve your musical aspirations.

What styles of clarinet, flute, and saxophone do you teach?

We teach all styles from classical to contemporary.

How qualified are your woodwind instructors?

Our saxophone, flute, and clarinet teachers have received their education from prestigious institutions such as Berklee College of Music, Grand Valley State University, Maranatha Baptist Bible College, University of Miami, University of North Texas, Istanbul University State Conservatory, Marshall University, Saginaw Valley State University, Washburn University, The University of Kansas, Boise State University and Michigan State University. Many of our instructors have gone on performance tours of the US, North America, Europe, Asia, South America and Australia and have over 25 years of professional performance and teaching experience. Our teachers have even performed for 3 different US presidents! In addition to their teaching credentials, our teachers have warm personalities, are extremely friendly and strive to get to know each student and their parent on a personal level.

What will I learn from clarinet, flute, and saxophone lessons at the Academy?

Beginner students can expect to work on notes, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. Our instructors balance musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson presents a new technical challenges or theory concept, and ends with something fun, such as your favorite riff or song. We use a variety of method books.

Do I need to purchase a clarinet, flute, or saxophone to learn the instrument?

Yes, to practice at home, you will need to have an instrument available. However, you do not need to purchase an instrument as there are many places where you can rent an instrument.
